71st Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball: Great success and significant contribution to important institution
After a two-year pandemic break, the 2023 Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball was finally able to take place again as usual on the last Saturday in January at the Vienna Hofburg. Despite the wave of inflation and the general price increases, a proud sum of 59,745 euros was raised that evening.
Thanks to the charitable orientation of the ball, according to which all proceeds go to charitable institutions, a total of 59,745 euros was handed over to MOMO Children's Hospice and Children's Palliative Team - also with the help of the sponsors and a charity art auction.

Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball goes Charity
On January 27th, 2024, the Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball will take place for the 72nd time. A traditional Viennese ball, which has already stood for a traditionally great charity character for many years. Also at the 72nd Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball the charity idea is in the foreground and the entire net proceeds will be donated to a selected charitable institution. In 2024, the net proceeds will go to the Association of Autonomous Women's Shelters in Austria and its project "StoP - Neighborhoods without Partner Violence".
StoP is part of the umbrella association AÖF, but above all it is a sustainable and future-oriented overall package in victim protection and violence prevention, where all people, especially neighbors, are invited and empowered to actively engage against domestic violence against women and children. Civil society is encouraged to take responsibility, not to look away and not to ignore signs and indications of violence in the immediate environment.

The long-awaited spring is here and there is also a spring awakening at the Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball, because the preparations for the coming ball season are already underway. We have the secret recipe for young dance couples to keep the spring fever alive until January 27th, 2024:

The 2023 Viennese ball season is barely over, and the anticipation is already growing for the next glittering ball season. In 2024, it will once again be "Meet the Medics" at the Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball, which brings a healthy dose of ball tradition to the Vienna Hofburg every year on the last Saturday in January.

Meet the medics - the Night of Medicine at the Hofburg Vienna
It won't be long before the gates of the Hofburg open for the 71st Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball under the title "Meet the medics" and turn January 28, 2023 into a Night of Medicine. Our ball visitors can expect an exciting program with many innovations, all details can be found HERE. The detailed music program can be found HERE.
Also new is the collaboration with young artists, who - creatively and uniquely - design the opening and the ball donation in a new way.

ÄRZTEBALL GOES CHARITY
Traditionally, the Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball has a major charity focus. This time, the net proceeds of the 2023 ball will go to the "MOMO Kinderhospiz".
A new feature is a charity art auction. Shortly before midnight, there will be an art auction in the ballroom for the benefit of the "MOMO Kinderhospiz". Two paintings by the internationally renowned artist Djawid C. Borower will be auctioned off. The works to be auctioned are from his successful series "Palimpseste", you can already view them under this LINK. The auction amount is considered a donation and is fully tax deductible.

All tested - all waltz!
We doctors are aware of our special responsibility and the resulting special position of the Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball and therefore continue to rely on the proven PCR testing strategy, as an additional measure for more security. How is this to be understood?
Our visitors are as diverse as life itself, but about half of them come from the healthcare sector and are physicians of all specialties and age groups. The common denominator for all of us is a concern for wellbeing and health. In the worst case scenario, a cluster and its associated sick leaves could be supply-relevant to our healthcare system. To ensure a safe ball evening, we have therefore decided to introduce a PCR test obligation (max. 72h old) at the 71st Vienna Medical Doctors’ Ball.

Special times - special precautions
The ongoing pandemic brings major challenges for all Viennese balls. In 2023, Corona is still an issue that affects all social occasions.
However, the Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball has a special position in this situation, as at least half of the visitors are doctors. A COVID-19 cluster and the possibility of resulting sick leaves could, in the worst case, be supply-relevant.
As doctors, we are aware of this special responsibility at the event. In order to avoid such a situation and to make the ball as safe as possible, we have decided on a PCR testing strategy.
For admission to the Hofburg, all ball visitors and employees need a PCR test that is not older than 72 hours.

Meet the Medics and the Music!
There are many good reasons to dance and at the Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball there is something for every taste: not only can you improve your waltz skills on the dance floor of the Hofburg, there are also several DJs and discos to keep the party going until the early hours of the morning.
For all "ball hungry" guests from "young to more grown up" there are some innovations at the Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball 2023 and room to warm up for the iconic midnight interlude and the traditional quadrille.

2023 brings a lot of new things, also for the Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball: Three years have passed since the last ball, a lot has changed and you will also discover many changes at the Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball.
From now on, the Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball will be themed "Meet the Medics" and will become the "Night of Medicine". In short, we are saying: Let's meet each other and encounter doctors and the achievements of medical history.
